A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to provide 1:1 support to a 5th-grade student with cochlear implants in an elementary school setting. This contract role is ideal for professionals proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, looking to contribute their skills in a dynamic educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert ASL interpretation services for the assigned student during school hours.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to facilitate effective communication and learning.
- Adapt interpretation techniques to meet the individual needs of the student.
- Maintain compliance with relevant state and federal regulations concerning special education and communication access.
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Educational Interpreter Services (EIS) license or an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher.
- Proven experience with ASL interpretation, particularly in educational settings.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, in a contract capacity.
- Commitment to supporting the academic and social development of students with hearing impairments.
