This professional opportunity is for a Social Worker to support an Early Childhood School setting, working with young learners aged 3 to 5. The assignment is based in Joliet, IL, with a contract duration through the current school year ending May 22, 2025 (with flexibility for emergency days as needed). The position requires a commitment to delivering social-emotional support essential for early childhood development within both general education and self-contained special education classrooms.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, small-group, and large-group social-emotional support focused on emotional regulation, peer interaction, and problem-solving skills for approximately 36 students.
- Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to design and implement strategies enhancing student well-being and school readiness.
- Conduct social developmental histories, screenings, and assessments integral to the special education evaluation process.
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, contributing to eligibility decisions, goal formulation, and service planning.
- Facilitate smooth transitions for students entering preschool and progressing to kindergarten.
- Deliver crisis intervention services and assist in the creation of safety and support plans when necessary.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation and case notes abiding by district policies and legal standards.
Qualifications And Experience
- Demonstrated skills and experience in social work within school or early childhood environments.
- Knowledge of special education evaluation processes and IEP participation.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:10 AM to 3:10 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
