Warehouse Service Worker PPP NA, Gx Berlin, Ohio
Main tasks
- The Warehouse Service Worker is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the warehouse by performing a variety of material handling and logistics tasks. Primary duties include receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping materials or products while maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring a clean, safe work environment.
- This position involves operating forklifts and other mobile equipment to move materials within the warehouse. Additional responsibilities include picking and staging customer orders, loading and unloading trailers, storing finished goods, and handling inbound shipments. The role also includes operating warehouse palletizers and, with training provided, using a yard tractor to pull and spot full trailers in the yard and position empty trailers at dock doors.
Area of responsibility
- Overall responsible for all activities within PPP NA (Gx Berlin, Ohio)
Receiving & Inspection
- Unload incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders or delivery notes.
- Inspect goods for damage and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
Inventory Management
- Store materials in designated locations following proper storage procedures.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counting.
- Maintain accurate records of materials, supplies, and equipment.
Order Fulfillment
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment according to company standards.
- Ensure accuracy and quality in all outgoing orders.
Shipping & Logistics
- Label and stage shipments for carrier pickup.
- Assist with loading trucks or coordinating freight arrangements as needed.
- Move, stack, and organize materials and products within the warehouse.
- Support other warehouse and logistics tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Equipment Operation
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely.
- Perform basic maintenance checks on warehouse equipment.
Housekeeping & Safety
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Follow all safety guidelines, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
General Activities
- Implements customer required quality requirements by performing specified quality checks/inspections per the customer specification.
- Packages and labels finished products according to the Control Plan.
- Actively communicates with coworkers – key items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production and continuous improvement.
- Follows work instructions as needed and may be asked to write, revise and train others to those instructions.
- Performs root cause analysis when problems arise to determine if actions can be taken immediately or appropriate personnel need to be called.
- Maintains 5S environment in work area, and ability to lift up to 56 pounds, and move 200 pounds.
- Sweeps any debris from work area in the production area and machinery.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Adheres to plant and corporate safety policies.
- May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ year of experience in a warehouse or operating forklift or distribution center preferred.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain one upon hire.
- Basic computer skills (for inventory systems and shipping software).
- Possesses well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possesses / acquires mobile equipment license.
- Ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment.
- Maintains positive team environment.
- Ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions.
- Ability to speak, read and write English.
- Possesses basic math skills.
- Understands basic machine operation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
