Intern, Electro-Mechanical Engineer
Position Summary
The primary function of the Electro-Mechanical Engineering Intern in the Infusion Systems R&D organization is to provide infusion pump development, troubleshooting and testing support for the engineering staff. This includes electro-mechanical design, collection of test data, analysis of data and writing engineering study reports following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual electro-mechanical designs and build prototypes to assess feasibility
- Apply analytical and/or statistical methodologies to support design decisions
- Perform lab activities, testing and experiments as directed by engineering staff
- Perform investigations and troubleshooting activities as required
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- General understanding of product development and manufacturing processes
- Familiar with selection of engineering materials, electro-mechanical components, geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Working knowledge of product development software tools (i.e. CAD, PCB layout)
- Working knowledge of data analysis software tools (i.e. Excel, Python, MiniTab)
- Experience with medical devices/infusion pumps is a plus
- Good communication and written skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Junior/Senior standing pursuing BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

- Some duties are performed in a lab environment.
- Must have the dexterity to build and service electro-mechanical devices
