Analyzes, develops, designs, and maintains software for the organization’s products and systems. Performs system integration of software and hardware to maintain throughput and program consistency. Validates, and tests: structures and user documentation. Work may be reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy. Follows established processes and directions.
This is a hybrid position and is required to work a minimum of 3 days in our Lincolnshire, IL office.
Responsibilities:
- Tests on a variety of firmware assignments that constitute a portion of a larger project
- Tests documentation which describes the specific firmware functionality
- Participates and provides supervised input in project code reviews
- Runs software tests designed by more experienced engineers
- Reviews test results and perform root cause analyses to identify problems
- Upgrades existing firmware; Enhances and improves existing technologies to apply to new solutions
- Implements recommendations to immediate team to enhance performance and improve productivity
- Seeks out new tools to analyze and solve problems
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action
- Receives general instructions on routine work, new projects or assignments
- May provide guidance to Engineering Technicians
- Builds productive working relationships internally and externally
- Primary intra-organizational with occasional inter-organizational and external customer contacts on routine matters
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering (Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Software Engineering or related fields)
- Proficiency in and prior internships/ projects in in firmware/embedded software development using C/ C++ (low level/ device driver
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge in scripting using Python or Perl.
- Experience working in a Linux/ UNIX based development platform is a huge plus
- Exposure to 64-bit microcontroller/ processor programing is a plus
- Exposure to various technologies like RF, USB technology, communication protocols like WiFi, Bluetooth.
- Knowledge of UI interfaces/ protocols, communication protocols and network protocols is a plus
- Exposure to Microcontrollers and Motor drivers is a big plus.

Salary: USD 65500.00 - USD 98300.00 Yearly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
