The Senior Manager, Events and Communications, Customer Engagement Marketing supports two critical functions of the specialty provider business. Joining a team of talented event and communication professionals, this role is focused on:
- Developing and executing on our key customer events and tradeshows that showcase McKesson’s value to our Provider Solutions customers and prospects. You serve as a trusted advisor to the broader specialty provider marketing, Corporate Events, and business teams, helping them create unique attendee experiences that help drive profitable growth and effectively tell the story of our purpose, our approach, what we do and the value we deliver.
- Leading and executing brand narrative activities that showcase McKesson’s value to specialty community physician practices and Onmark Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) members, improving brand perception, deepening engagement and enhancing customer experience. You continually innovate and streamline processes to ensure the business effectively tells the story of our purpose, our approach, what we do and the value we deliver by pulling through the voice of the customer.

You’re a senior-level individual contributor who reports to the Director, Customer Engagement Marketing. You work without considerable direction, and you anticipate change, appropriately redirecting your efforts when needed. You lead critical activities and resolve complex problems that frequently require you to use your creativity. You help develop and implement yearly event plans, partner closely with the Specialty Provider marketing team and stakeholders to maintain alignment and report the impact of your activities.
Create Engaging Live and Virtual Experiences that Showcase Our Brand Value
- Bring innovation to how McKesson’s Provider Solutions value story is brought to life for customers and prospects through signature customer events
- Create and execute engaging experiences that emphasize the benefits of working with McKesson to gain new business, deepen existing customer relationships and showcase our expertise and solutions
- Partner with the Strategic Marketing team and business stakeholders to develop compelling agenda topics and event content that promote the Provider Solutions value propositions, allow for exchange of ideas across attendees, and deliver industry insights at our signature customer events
- Partner with Strategic Marketing to manage presenter meeting content, host content review calls and rehearsals to ensure speakers are prepared for their presentations
- Collaborate with the Corporate events team on meeting logistics and best practices for delivering best-in-class customer events
- Create content to promote customer and industry events through various marketing channels (i.e., email, digital, QBR slides, etc.) that drives awareness and increases attendance at meetings
- Lead strategy, planning and logistics of trade show presence for multispecialty segments
- Partner with Sr. Manager, Events to develop messaging and presence at key industry events for oncology and multispecialty segments, including booth messaging, assets, social media posts, and talking points for sales team
- Manage lead capture initiatives for trade shows and customer events, including post-event communications and sales team coordination
- Analyze impact of engagement, measure ROI and effectively report back to marketing and business leadership
- As needed, support execution of industry events and The US Oncology Network customer events
Help Create Communications That Showcase Our Brand Value
- Manage the planning, development and execution of customer communications campaigns including but not limited to Fair Share, generics, customer distribution and other business and operational communications
- Support the customer communications strategy to maintain high standards for storytelling and ensure use of consistent messages in communications efforts that drive growth and retention of our customers
- Collaborate with the digital marketing operations team to execute on the delivery of customer communications to the intended audience
- Implement ongoing improvements to communications to help drive customer engagement
- Provide project management to help the team coordinate and track project timelines, progress, and output on communications
- Assist with measuring our ability to increase providers’ awareness of our value proposition and the impact of our branding activities, in partnership with other teams, to improve Customer Engagement Marketing efforts
Build Strong Alignment With Stakeholders To Enhance Customer Experience
- Become an integrated member of relevant marketing and business teams – including participating in routine calls and meeting 1:1 – to gain an understanding of the business, customer needs, market trends to help influence event presence and ensure we have a compelling communications strategy
- Partner with the other marketing teams to share ideas, align, and execute activities – i.e., Specialty Provider Customer Engagement, Corporate Brand, Marketing and Communication, and other Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services marketing teams
- Navigate a highly matrixed organization to deliver on strict timelines
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Education
4-year degree in Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent experience
Critical Skills
- Typically has 7+ years of professional marketing event and communications experience
- Healthcare industry experience, preferably with healthcare providers
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience executing on B2B events and communications activities
- Proficient with Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills
- Sales and Marketing automation system experience (e.g., Salesforce.com, Marketo)
- Vendor sourcing and management experience
- Experience in customer service, account management and/or sales would be an asset
