Within our Analytical Services team, we have a functional service provider solution, which is an outstanding partnership that allows our customers to use the experience of our staff, while allowing you, the employee, to gain direct experience working onsite at a pharmaceutical/ biopharmaceutical company, all while maintaining full-time benefits.
Discover Impactful Work
The Scientist will perform a variety of routine to complex procedures supporting downstream process characterization activities. The position may additionally support other downstream activities as needed. The scientist will be responsible for execution and documentation of procedures and protocols.
A day in the Life
- Experimentation relating to chromatography, focusing on generating resin lifetime data for late phase process characterization, and small-scale chromatography screening studies.
- Effective troubleshooting of equipment and processing problems with team members.
- Support coordination efforts such as sampling, equipment maintenance, and lab-space organization
- Actively participates in the creation and revision of experimental procedures as needed
- Documenting all activities clearly and accurately within quality framework and authoring technical reports as needed
- Perform duties in a safe and compliant manner and behave in accordance with site SOP’s, EHS standards and guidelines and relevant legal requirements.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification. Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2-4+ years).
- Master's degree with 1+ years of relevant experience
- Previous research experience in or directly related to the biopharmaceutical industry
- Experience in experimental design for purification process development.
- Experience running benchtop scale chromatography (flowthrough and affinity) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of statistical approaches
- Experience with authoring / data checking technical documents
- Ability to work on multiple tasks/technologies at a given time
In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to run processes in modern Biopharmaceutical plants or laboratories
- Previous laboratory-based research experience in an academic or industrial setting
- Basic understanding of cell culture/fermentation and typical protein purification principles
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems
- Excellent troubleshooting/problem analysis skills
- Logical and independent thinking
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including data and observational recording during experimentation
- Continuously looking for opportunities to learn, build skills and share learning
- Passionate personality and positive attitude
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
