Primary Responsibilities
- Positions in this function provide legal advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations, risks, and privileges of the organization
- Protect the organization's rights in contract negotiations, and support business teams in the development and operation of compliant products
- Acquire deep knowledge of the industry and the specific business practices of this particular business within the Optum Financial business of UnitedHealth Group so as to best advise senior business leaders
- Provides a full range of legal advice and services and may specialize in one or more areas such as, transactional work, commercial law, contracts law, financial services law, health law, insurance law, advising upon regulatory and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree
- 10+ years of legal experience; financial services legal experience, with a solid understanding of health insurance and/or managed care industry
- Proven knowledge of U.S., state contract, financial services and corporate health care regulatory requirements
- Experience with regulatory agencies in the financial services and/or healthcare industries
- Experience with commercial B2B and/or B2B2C payment products
- Proven success in collaborating across a matrixed business and legal environment
- Demonstrated understanding of business problems related to assigned legal projects
- Proven well-developed written and verbal communications skills
- Proven excellent presentation skills
- Ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business unit needs
- Ability to build and maintain rapport with superiors, peers, subordinates, and external company contacts
- Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bank/fintech partnerships
- Demonstrated understanding of health care benefit coverage and medical policy development

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
