Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a highly skilled and driven Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our dynamic Data Analytics team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of data across our analytics pipelines, reports, and dashboards. Your expertise in data validation, cloud technologies, and business intelligence (BI) tools will play a critical part in guaranteeing that our data is consistently represented and reliable across analytical outputs.
The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills, hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, and a deep understanding of Power BI and Tableau. If you’re passionate about ensuring data quality, optimizing analytics performance, and working with cutting-edge technologies, this is the role for you.
What will you do?
Data Validation & Quality Assurance:
- Perform SQL-based data validation across data warehouses (Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, ADLS).
- Validate tables, views, transformations, and ETL/ELT processes to ensure data accuracy.
- Ensure data consistency and accuracy across multiple sources and reports in Power BI/Tableau.
- Collaborate with data engineers, BI developers, and analysts to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
Query & Performance Testing:
- Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate large datasets, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Test data pipelines, transformations, and aggregations for performance optimization.
- Utilize query execution tools such as DBeaver, DBVisualizer, and SSMS for efficient data validation and analysis.
BI & Report Testing:
- Validate Power BI & Tableau reports for accuracy, data consistency, and visualization correctness.
- Perform functional, regression, and load testing on dashboards and reports to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify discrepancies in reports related to data pipeline issues and assist in debugging and resolving them.
Automation & Performance Testing:
- Develop and execute automated test scripts using tools such as JMeter (for performance testing) and Selenium (for web-based UI automation).
- Use Python-based testing frameworks to automate data validation and performance testing.
- Implement automated data validation strategies for consistent, repeatable testing of large datasets.
- Optimize BI performance testing strategies, particularly for large datasets and complex reports.
This is an onsite position at our office in San Diego, CA.
What education and experience do you need?
A combination of the following education and experience factors will be considered:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent work experience in a relevant technical field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance or testing, with a focus on data analytics, cloud environments, and business intelligence (BI) tools.
- Proven experience in writing and executing SQL queries for data validation, working with data warehouses (e.g., Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, etc.), and handling large datasets.
- Solid understanding of data pipelines, transformations, and ETL/ELT processes in cloud platforms.
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau for testing and validation of reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
- Familiarity with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., JMeter, Selenium, Python-based frameworks) is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with performance testing and query optimization.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Exposure to Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) tools (e.g., Cucumber, Behave).
- Knowledge of ETL testing tools and processes, specifically in Azure Data Factory or AWS Glue.
- Experience in healthcare or medical billing domain (e.g., claims, payer data, billing codes) is a plus.

What does the position pay:
Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location.
The expected range for this role is $43.27 - $48.08 hourly compensation. Please note this range is an estimate and actual may vary based on qualifications and experience.
