Who are we looking for?
You are an inquisitive, organized, and driven college student that demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills that is either pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. This individual will strive to improve the organization’s data protection efforts by analyzing existing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) alerts and enhance policies to mitigate potential risks to sensitive data.
This is a 10-week program beginning June 18, 2025, and ending August 27, 2025. This will be a part-time (up to 29 hours/week maximum) with the potential to go full-time in the future role.
What does the position pay?
The hourly compensation for this role is $20.00 for undergraduate students and $21.00 for graduate students.
What will you do?
- Review current DLP tools and solutions in use (e.g., Microsoft DLP, Symantec DLP).
- Analyze recent DLP alerts and identify common patterns or issues.
- Classify alerts based on severity and frequency (false positives, low severity incidents, or critical events).
- Work with the security team to verify and validate DLP alerts against real incidents or potential security risks.
- Create reports summarizing findings and suggest improvements to be made.
- Ensure the DLP response procedure(s) aligns with compliance regulations (e.g.,HIPAA, PCI).
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to revise the response procedure, ensuring it is practical and feasible.
This is an onsite position at our office in San Diego, CA.
What education and experience do you need?
- Currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Comfortable working in a Cloud Native environment.
- Ability to maintain an organized space both physically and digitally.
- Ability to read and interpret Policies and Guidance to take actionable steps in a virtual environment.
- Comfortable asking questions.
- Someone who pursues building relationships.
