Position Summary: The Senior Associate, Pricing Strategy is a key contributor to athena’s success, driving analysis and insight critical to setting our value across the healthcare marketplace. The ideal candidate is a passionate self-starter with proven capabilities in analytics, modeling and research focused on pricing strategy. S/he will design and maintain leading-edge pricing strategies to ensure profitable customer acquisition and growth, will create advanced models assessing the impact of these strategies, and work with various stakeholders to coordinate across the organization. The Senior Associate will need to be a team player and be experienced at delivering clear insight to a wide set of stakeholders. The successful candidate will be hands-on and can do the technical and analysis work required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Measure performance of pricing models with clear recommendations for changes within pricing and across other functional areas within athena.
- Generate insight into product and service packaging recommendations from accumulation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative insight of price and value. Develop primary and secondary research, insight from internal teams, and an understanding of economic value in healthcare technology/services, software as a service, and network/platform business models.
- Understand profitability metrics to determine whether strategies align with Corporate goals.
- Manage and participate in governance of metric measurement of athenahealth’s value and pricing performance.
- Elicit feedback and insight with product management, finance and client-facing teams toward our pricing models and sales/marketing tools.
- Develop pricing strategies across service lines in concert with corporate strategy and company initiatives/goals. Translate pricing strategy into pricing models across athenahealth services.
- Assist in crafting athena’s pricing principles and guidelines.
- Drive development of pricing formulation across new and existing services, particularly in the area of platform and network-based business models.
- Develop price book calculations and financial models to support go-to-market activities.
- Work with product teams to assess new integrations, trends, and quantitative/qualitative support for entering into new markets.
- Review industry and regulatory trends for business model, competitive trends, and pricing impacts.
- Establish strong relationships with key Product owners, Marketing, Legal, and Operations teams.
- Leveraging the pricing strategies and goals of the Company, understand requests for unique pricing / exceptions to current pricing methodologies for sales prospects and existing clients.
- Through an evaluation of competitor pricing, profitability metrics, market trends, and existing client pricing, formulate outcomes that lead to profitable recurring clients.
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree (Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting or similar).
- 2-3 years of related pricing or value-analytics experience, including evidence of career progression in this area; SaaS experience a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with financial modeling or data modeling, and statistical analysis
- Advanced level skill in MS Excel; proficiency in SQL; Microsoft Office Suite: PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and other Office tools; ability to adapt to new technology platforms as applicable.
