Position Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading maintenance and reliability of plant assets, productivity improvement, loss elimination initiatives, and predictive maintenance implementation.
Key responsibilities include managing the maintenance supervisor staff, equipment assets, and parts inventory; implementing technological improvements to existing equipment and processes, as well as to driving initiatives related to improving quality, efficiency, compliance and costs; proactively managing preventative and predictive maintenance activities leveraging the plant's Maintenance Program, the EAMS CMMS system; maximizing the value of the plant by project-managing and coordinating Capex (investment) and Opex (repair, maintenance and replacement) projects as required; procuring and managing the Maintenance, Repair and Operating supplies; planning, scheduling and executing maintenance activities; and working with the plant Operations, EAS and Quality staff to assure plant equipment is maintained and operated in a safe, compliant and efficient condition at all times.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure safe operation of machinery and equipment by completing preventative and corrective maintenance requirements. Create and maintain a safe and compliant work environment in adherence to internal and external regulations (e.g., LOTO, confined space, electrical safety standard, etc), procedures, and policies
- Champion the behavior-based safety program striving toward reduction in safety incidents by complying with all safety procedures and following all preventive measures, role-modeling safe work practices/behaviors, and holding others accountable to safety standards
- Ensure a high quality of products, housekeeping and hygiene standards are maintained
- Drive adherence to all applicable cGMP’s, company policies, and all other quality or regulatory requirements (OSHA, FDA, etc)
- Maintain equipment in validated state and oversee repairs in accordance with Engineering and Quality requirements.
- Effectively assign reliability technicians to maintain operations and minimize downtime
- Review daily maintenance effectiveness to identify opportunities for improvement and work with the Plant team for root cause resolution and prevention of issues by development and implementation of corrective and preventive action plans
- Manage the Plant’s equipment maintenance services vendors / contractors
- Champion and lead change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Manage and organize parts inventory using Lean principles. Work to establish optimal part reorder points and maintain critical spare parts availability
- Implement new or revise current processes and standard operating procedures as needed
- Continuously improve the plant’s PM system so that it is optimally effective in helping to reduce unplanned downtime and maximize productivity, minimize cost
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
- Must demonstrate a desire and ability to lead and teach others
- Must be well versed with EAMS CMMS and train others in its use and utilize the system to maintain appropriate parts inventory and account of all equipment maintenance with emphasis to reduce downtime.
- Must be a practitioner of Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies, to align reliability efforts with, and support existing programs to meet or exceed our Quality, Delivery and Cost performance expectations.
- Must be able to apply root cause analysis for problem solving
- Must have a thorough knowledge of processing, packaging, automation, plant systems and ancillary equipment, to effectively lead technical resources to achieve high levels of plant efficiency and productivity
- A proven track record with developing teams, coaching & mentoring others, and increasing employee skill levels
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of related experience in the pharma or industrial manufacturing dealing with: Capital projects, Preventative Maintenance, FDA and OSHA requirements
- A minimum 5 years of experience supervising a maintenance workforce
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Travel Requirements
- Typically requires travel less than 10% of the time
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
- Most activities in office environment and will require extensive use of a computer.
- May periodically perform tasks outside.
- Some work will take place in a manufacturing environment, cleanroom, controlled area and will require the use of appropriate gowning and/or PPE.
- May need to stand for extended periods of time.
- Walk, climb stairs, respond to color or special visual indicators.
- Periodically, must be able to lift to 50 lbs. without assistance (equipment, parts etc.)
