The Pharmacist In-Charge (PIC), for ProHealth’s Florida location will ensure the pharmacy establishes and executes processes and procedures, under the direction of the Specialty Pharmacy Management Services Clinical Manager, to maintain all state board and regulatory compliance for that location. This position will be expected to perform hands-on staff pharmacist work including both operational and clinical to ensure the specialty pharmacy partners runs efficiently and smoothly. The PIC will participate in the development and adherence with site level policies and labor relations. To be successful, they must also be familiar with implementing the proper Key Performance Metrics (KPI) for a high volume specialty pharmacy. They must be an effective communicator as they will serve as the subject matter expert in collaborating with CarepathRx leaders.
Licensure Requirements
- Required state licenses: Florida and register for PIC status in FL and all states below.
- Preferred state licenses include: Alabama, Arizona, California, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee with willingness to obtain additional licenses.
- Company will provide assistance in obtaining licenses not held above if ideal candidate possesses a reasonable number of licenses already.
Responsibilities
- Act as PIC in certain states as needed
- Carry out day to day duties and responsibilities as they pertain to providing our client’s Specialty Pharmacy the contracted services
- Act as a resource to client’s clinical and operational pharmacy staff
- Assist the physician and other healthcare professionals involved in planning and implementing patient care to ensure safe and effective drug therapy
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessment of specific patient drug and disease information to identify real and potential drug-related problem or needs. Documenting this in CarepathRx’s Patient Therapy Management Software Solution - DromosPTM
- Assist the physician and office staff in setting therapeutic objectives for drug therapy and establishing parameters for monitoring the safety and efficacy of drug therapy
- Understand billing, reimbursement, case management, and other third-party payor requirements/implications for pharmacy products and services
- Assist the physician and office staff in completing prior authorizations for their specialty patients
- Understand the workflow of various EMR systems and DromosPTM and other systems as needed
- Monitor the outcomes from drug therapy by collecting, evaluating, and interpreting the results of laboratory data, clinical data, and other pertinent patient information
- Communicate the results of therapeutic drug monitoring activities to the physician, nursing and other appropriate personnel
- Make appropriate recommendations which are designed to enhance the outcomes associated with drug therapy
- Provide consultations and answers inquiries from patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain thorough and appropriate documentation in the patient/client record (EMRs, DromosPTM, ect.) of all clinical activities and communication with patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and maintain expected productivity
- If applicable, Process and checks all medications prior to dispensing from the pharmacy
- Maintain pharmacy records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations

- Capable of assuming responsibility for evaluating and monitoring drug therapy relative to the total needs/problems of the home care patient in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

- Review the use of targeted medications for compliance with current pharmacoeconomic programs
- Assist with pharmacokinetics consult service and drug dosing per organizational protocol.

Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and pharmacy software program
- Active Pharmacist license in good standing with Board of Pharmacy
- Experience in specialty pharmacy. Health system specialty pharmacy preferred
- Strong clinical knowledge
- Demonstrate clinical competence on an ongoing basis
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and cooperate with all departments within CarepathRx
- Meet any continuing education requirements of the company’s clinical program, as defined within the company’s policy and procedures
- Ability to stay abreast of developments in the field of specialty pharmacy, self- injectable, and oral therapies
- Ability to handle challenging situations in a professional and proficient manner utilizing available resources and critical thinking skills
- Must be flexible with work schedule and on call duty
- Maintain all state board and regulatory compliance for that location
- Willingness and ability to obtain multiple state pharmacist licenses where the PIC is required to be licensed, working with Compliance to achieve this goal within the first 6-12 months.
- Proven track record of establishing and maintaining board and regulatory compliance for prescription pharmacy operations
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) required
- 2+ years of previous experience in specialty pharmacy services is preferred
- Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CPS) preferred or willingness to obtain this certification
- Must be flexible with work schedule
