General Summary And Purpose
The Sample Technician I is a core team member of the Operations Team. This position is responsible for ensuring
that sample inventory is moved appropriately through the workflow. Technicians perform routine biorepository
tasks to ensure the proper collection, processing, storing and distribution of biological and pharmaceutical
specimens.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Receive incoming Biological/Pharmaceutical specimens. Process, label and scan and/or enter codes into digital inventory system ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
- Experienced in written and verbal communications with either commercial clients or government investigators and a strong documentation background in a laboratory setting with respect to regulatory requirements (cGMP, cGLP or ISO) and Standard Operating Procedures is a requirement. Flexible team player who can change directions quickly and respond to a variety of Repository needs.
- Respond to customer inquiries; generate shipping manifests; locate and pull samples from cold storage; repack appropriately for shipping
- Receive in new samples against manifest/Intake documentation. Verify contents inventory via inventory system and store in appropriate storage condition.
- Managing inventory of transferred product from failed/retired equipment
- Respond to freezer temperature alarms. Assess the situation and determine if specimens should be moved and if freezer repairs are necessary.
- Check, monitor and record temperature and perform root cause analysis of deviations and implement a resolution or initiate a service request when necessary
- Carry out and maintain sufficient inventory of laboratory stock for daily operations.
- On call rotation for nights and weekends may be required
- Label vials and shipping boxes
- Perform dry shipper QC
- Keep current on IATA Shipping Regulations and maintain certification and standards
- Validates new equipment, maintains and monitors repository-specific equipment
- Carry out other duties/projects as assigned

- Ability to stand and move around for extended periods of time
Job Specifications
- High school degree
- Experience in the handling and safety of biohazardous materials desirable
Warehouse experience desirable
