Position Description
The Sr. Director - IT Vendor Management Shared Services is responsible for managing and overseeing the relationships with technology suppliers and service providers. Their role includes selecting vendors, negotiating contracts, ensuring service delivery, monitoring performance, and maintaining strong communication channels. They also work to optimize vendor services and ensure compliance with organizational policies and requirements, often seeking to achieve cost efficiency and quality standards. Additionally, the IT Vendor Manager may be involved in risk management and strategic planning to align vendor services with business objectives.
This leader is responsible for defining and executing the roadmap for cross-functional IT Vendor Management processes, ensuring operational excellence, process standardization, and governance across the following IT Shared Services Areas:
- Enterprise Applications,
- Enterprise Infrastructure & Technology Platforms,
- Data, Architecture & Platform,
- Operational Excellence & Governance.
In coordination with the Service Delivery Managers, this leader is responsible for ensuring that services are delivered to clients or customers efficiently and effectively. Their role involves overseeing the delivery process, collaborating with service teams, and maintaining high service quality standards. They act as the primary point of contact between the service provider and the Service Delivery Manager, addressing any issues or concerns that arise.
Additionally, the role monitors service performance, implements improvements, and ensures compliance with service level agreements (SLAs). They also focus on optimizing processes, managing resources, and aligning service delivery with the organization's strategic goals to enhance customer satisfaction and achieve operational excellence.
This role requires a leader who can collaborate with senior McKesson Executives, aligning IT Vendor Management strategies with broader corporate objectives and driving the improvement of service quality and process efficiency. Additionally, the Sr. Director will ensure strict adherence to internal policies, contractual commitments, and regulatory requirements, enforcing governance standards across all third-party engagements.
With oversight of a geographically diverse team, the Sr. Director will manage the performance of both internal staff and external third-party providers, ensuring effective resource allocation and alignment with McKesson’s operational goals. The successful candidate will lead initiatives that promote collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence while ensuring McKesson maximizes the value from its vendor partnerships.
This position calls for a strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities, deep expertise in vendor management, and a proven track record of managing complex, high-value third-party relationships in a regulated environment.
This role will be an overall, effective manager, communicator and a proven thought leader who is able to conceptualize, plan, program and implement. The IT VMO Shared Services Sr. Director may be called upon to represent more senior executives with Service Providers as appropriate. The correct candidate will possess energy, create enthusiasm for advancing the strategic sourcing strategy, and execute the strategy with each service provider.

- Establish a robust data and analytics framework, ensuring that key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics are captured and accessible for real-time decision-making.
- Develop and maintain a process improvement roadmap to drive measurable improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reporting hub aligns with executive needs, providing timely, relevant insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement by driving process changes that directly impact the performance and value of vendor relationships.
Compliance & Governance to IT VMO Processes & Standards
- Ensure adherence to internal IT Vendor Management Office (VMO) standards and processes, maintaining compliance across all teams and third-party partners.
- Develop and enforce governance frameworks that align vendor activities with McKesson’s policies, industry regulations, and risk management practices.
- Regularly audit vendor management processes to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring that all third-party engagements meet internal and external compliance requirements.
- Provide oversight for regulatory reporting and documentation, ensuring transparency and traceability for all vendor management activities.
Leadership & Third-Party Oversight
- Lead a geographically diverse team, managing both direct internal reports and IT VMO third-party staff across onshore and offshore locations.
- Drive IT VMO third-party vendor performance by ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs), contractual obligations, and McKesson’s performance expectations.
- Foster a culture of accountability with IT VMO third-party suppliers, ensuring alignment with McKesson’s goals and continuous performance improvement.
- Act as the primary liaison between McKesson’s internal teams and IT VMO third-party staffing providers, ensuring effective collaboration, resource allocation, and conflict resolution.
Minimum Requirements
Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).
Critical Skills
- 10+ years IT Vendor Management relevant work experience, including prior experience as a service provider
- Demonstrated program management experience including outsourcing contract management
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and manage large initiatives and operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead change with a focus on service delivery and financial results
- Understanding of benchmarking processes and techniques
- Experience with outsourcing, performance measures, and monitoring
- Experience designing and deploying performance management processes and systems
Additional Skills
- ITIL Foundation V3 certification preferred.
- ISG GovernX experience preferred.

Education
- BA/BS OR equivalent experience.
- MBA or relevant graduate degree strongly preferred.
