The Role
Moderna is seeking a strong candidate to support the execution of the US Contract strategy. S/he will be a key player on the US Commercial Contracts Team and will be instrumental in executing contracting solutions that support operational excellence in Contract Development and Administration.
The
Senior Manager,
Market Access Contracting role is to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to support the execution of channel Strategy, documenting contractual relationships that support US Market Access strategy, protocols and operations to ensure an efficient and compliant organization.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- This role will be responsible for contract development, contract authoring, negotiations and administration for Retailer, Wholesaler, and GPO mid-sized accounts.
- Responsible for the day-to-day activities that support the execution of Contracting and Pricing strategy, inclusive of contract development (RFPs, redlines, collaboration with Account Team, etc.) and assist with contract adjudication (Chargebacks, Admin Fees, Rebates, Membership & Eligibility management, etc.).
- Provide project management for Market Access related initiatives, and support for cross-functional project teams with an unwavering focus on process innovation and customer experience.
- Establish cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the agreements are operational, functional, and interpreted accurately for timely implementation and other contractual obligations.
- Act as a subject matter expert and contact for Moderna’s 3PL and external Business Partners for items pertaining to Contracting, pricing and eligibility.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management, pricing, market access, or related fields within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Proficiency in contract authoring, redlining, negotiation, and administration.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contract governance and compliance standards, including SOX requirements.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and adjusting effectively to changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Technical/Functional Expertise:
- Strong foundation in U.S. pharmaceutical market dynamics, including coverage, reimbursement, pricing strategies, and contracting processes.
- Proficiency in contract development, including creating and managing RFPs, performing redlines, and negotiating terms to align with business objectives.
- Comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements such as SOX and their application to contract governance.
- Familiarity with Contract Revenue Management systems or equivalent tools to enhance contract administration.
- Expertise in handling complex contract adjudications, such as chargebacks, admin fees, and rebates.
- Leadership Skills:
- Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with a focus on driving process improvements and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of driving operational excellence and innovation in contracting and market access functions.

- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:

- Specific experience in vaccines or branded/generic pharmaceutical markets, with expertise in coverage, reimbursement, channel influence, and pricing strategies.

- Exceptional written and oral communication skills tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Adept at negotiating complex agreements and resolving conflicts constructively with partners and stakeholders.
- Ability to anticipate objections and influence outcomes through clear, persuasive communication.

- This role is expected to be in office 70% of the time with flexibility to work from home up to 30%.
