Position Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing supplier negotiations and relationships as well as tools, methods and rules for corporate purchasing department. Specific duties include but are not limited to indirect and direct purchases and supplier relations
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate cross-business activities, benchmarking, periodic meetings and training as needed
- Identify and execute sourcing initiatives on commodities (Dual Source, KanBan, VMI etc.)
- Deliver yearly cost reduction and performance targets. Ensure world class quality and delivery performance by suppliers globally
- Create/maintain all supplier related agreements
- Negotiate cost reduction, inventory stocking agreements, etc. with all suppliers
- Provide direction on tools, methods and rules to manufacturing plant purchasing.
- Maintaining and developing relationships with current, new and potential service providers
- Create/maintain all supplier related agreements.
- Work on special projects as they arise
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast pace, changing environment.
- Strong negotiating, project management, problem solving, and decision-making skills are essential.
- Knowledge of a global supplier base
- Ability to managing complex materials/suppliers and internal teams
- Knowledge or prior experience as it relates to data/information exchange throughout supply chain network
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Attention to detail
- Oracle ERP System
Education And Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required
- Minimum 5 yrs. experience in management
- Experience in leading Strategic Sourcing, Commodity functions
- Project Management Training
- APIC certification preferred
- SIX Sigma
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
- This is largely a sedentary role.
- This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
- Typically requires travel 5-20% of the time
