Position Summary
The Program Manager will be responsible for developing program justification and business case in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan. The primary responsibility of the program manager will center around managing capital projects, i.e. molds, presses, automation, including refurbishments, defining requirements, managing budget, managing IQ, PD, OQ, PQ. The person hired will also monitor the business environment, program goals, and benefits realization plan in order to ensure the program remains aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives, and will also be responsible for managing design control activities, including but not limited to material & design changes. Interaction with sales, R&D engineers, project managers, Operations and Marketing Management will be required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities that result in optimized program benefits
- Define and monitor benefits realization measurement criteria for the program
- Develop clear expectations and program acceptance criteria with program stakeholders
- Identify and evaluate risk and their impact on the program objectives
- Manage and resolve program and project-level issues.
- Manage all types of design control projects, i.e. material changes, new product development, dimensional changes, alternate components, label changes, vendor changes, etc.
- Supports sustaining operations by managing capital projects such as molds, presses, and automation equipment along with repurposing and refurbishment of existing equipment.
- Manages design verification, IQ, PD, OQ & PQ activities.
- Develops & maintains business case, project charters, project plans, design & development plans (DDPs/CCPs).
- Conducts design control meetings and manages associated outputs.
- Routes design control documents for electronic approval.
- Determines functional resource requirements as dictated by the project and works with CMB, resource managers and or leadership to staff.
- Holds resources accountable for agreed upon deliverables, mitigates, and escalates as necessary.
- Supports assigned projects from creation to launch and communicates status by providing routine updates & presentations to stakeholders through one-on-one meetings and by participating in change management (CMB) review, business unit (BU) review and project review committee (PRC) meetings.
- This is a hands-on position whose focus is on developing project plans and executing projects as efficiently as possible. The program manager is the voice and advocate for the project and acts as an extension of the requester and or stakeholder.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrated success developing and evaluating program models
Proficient in using technology as a management reporting tool
- Strong project management skills managing complex, multi-faceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth
- Experience having worked with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
- Ability to lead others and make good business decisions
- Adaptable and able to change plans quickly
- Experience in plastic disposables is desirable
- A successful history managing engineering projects with a thorough understanding of design control
- Understanding of production planning, manufacturing management, quality control or Regulatory Affairs may be considered.
- A thorough understanding of interdepartmental relationships within a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with Oracle or similar ERP system is desirable
- PMP Certification is desirable
- In addition to the above, this position will be involved in standardizing processes between our various geographically diverse plants. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project.
Education And Experience
- Must be 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred or 10+ years of equivalent work experience managing complex projects.
- At least 6 years of experience in a technical project management role and 3 years minimum in managing a program portfolio
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
