The Role
This is a spring Co-Op opportunity in Marlborough, MA from
January 21, 2025 – June 20th, 2025. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the Co-Op.
Start date will be January 21, 2025.
The Co-op, INT Commercial Manufacturing, will play an integral role in supporting Moderna’s cutting-edge mRNA platform within a cGMP manufacturing environment. This position will be part of the Individualized Neoantigen Therapy (INT) manufacturing team, contributing to the production of personalized cancer treatments. The role will focus on driving process improvements through the creation and optimization of manufacturing dashboards, 5S methodologies, and Kanban processes, ensuring streamlined and efficient operations.
This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and various Engineering groups, to enhance manufacturing workflows and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The successful candidate will actively contribute to initiatives aimed at optimizing 5S implementation, material kitting workflows, and dashboard development to improve transparency and operational effectiveness.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Assist the Manufacturing and support teams to ensure the process operations meet safety, compliance, and business requirements on a day-to-day basis.
- Participate in cross functional project teams driving continuous improvement initiatives for Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams.
- Observe and value stream map various manufacturing and business processes to identify opportunities for improvement which results in reducing waste, improving workflows and enhancing productivity on the manufacturing floor.
- Implement 5S methodology in the kitting and manufacturing areas to enhance organization and workplace safety.
- Develop and maintain dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) for manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with cross functional team members across multiple disciplines such as Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Digital, MS&T, and Quality.
- Managing or improving kitting workflows—optimizing the assembly, packaging, and delivery of materials to production lines.
- Meticulous focus on regulatory compliance and adherence to cGMP standards.
- Complete training in assigned required learning plan according to the defined timing and the prescribed requalification cadence.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
- Current student enrolled in a Bachelors or Master’s program pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Pharmaceutical Sciences, biotechnology, Industrial Engineering or a related life science field.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow clear written/verbal instructions and with appropriate supervision, follow procedures for working in a regulated clean room environment.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent
- Familiarity with Microsoft suite such as Smartsheet, OneNote, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Ability and interest to gown and work in clean room locations to observe Process Operations and Manufacturing Equipment (i.e., chromatography skids, filtration skids, robotic equipment, and isolators).
- Aptitude for working with cross-functional team members from other disciplines such as EH&S, Supply Chain, Quality, Digital and Engineering.
- Familiarity with tools like Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, or Kanban.
- Ability to analyze complex processes and suggest efficient improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as the ability to contribute to high performing teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
