SUMMARY
WorkingBuildings is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical Commissioning Agent to support commissioning services on mission-critical data center projects. This role will be responsible for executing Level 2 (installation verification), Level 3 (functional performance testing), and Level 4 (integrated systems testing) commissioning activities for mechanical or electrical systems on data center construction projects. The majority of this role is spent onsite working directly with general contractors, MEP subcontractors, and controls integrators.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Execute Level 2 commissioning: installation verification and pre-functional checklists for mechanical and electrical equipment, including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, piping systems, air handling units, generators, UPS, ATS, and switchgear.
· Execute Level 3 commissioning: functional performance testing to verify equipment operates per the sequence of operations and design intent.
· Execute Level 4 commissioning: integrated systems testing (IST), including full-load testing, failure mode and loss-of-utility scenarios, and coordinated mechanical-electrical response testing.
· Develop, review, and execute commissioning documentation, including commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, functional test scripts, and issues logs.
· Identify, document, and track deficiencies through resolution.
· Coordinate daily onsite with the general contractor, mechanical and electrical subcontractors, controls contractors, and the commissioning project manager.
· Verify mechanical and electrical system performance against the basis of design and the owner's project requirements.
· Support commissioning of critical infrastructure, including chilled water plants, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling towers, pumps, VFDs, BAS/BMS integration points, generators, UPS, ATS, and switchgear.
· Travel to data center construction sites as required; the majority of the role is performed onsite.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building systems.
· Knowledge of the commissioning process and the ability to execute Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 commissioning activities.
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and sequences of operation.
· Ability to develop and execute commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and functional test scripts.
· Ability to identify and document deficiencies clearly and drive them to resolution with contractors and owner representatives.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently onsite and represent WorkingBuildings to the project team.
· Ability to travel extensively (75% or more).
· Valid driver's license and ability to meet client site access, safety training, and background check requirements.
· Preferred: prior experience in data center commissioning specifically, at Levels 2 through 4.
· Preferred: experience developing or executing Level 4 integrated systems test (IST) scripts.
· Preferred: familiarity with BAS/BMS platforms and controls integration points.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field required.
· Equivalent combination of education and directly related commissioning or construction industry experience will be considered in place of a degree.
· Preferred: 2+ years of commissioning or related field experience required.
· Preferred: commissioning certification through ASHRAE, BCA, AABC, or NEBB.
· Preferred: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

· Regularly required to access active construction sites, including mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, data halls, rooftops, and yard equipment areas, and to work at elevation on ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
· Regularly required to traverse uneven surfaces, confined spaces, and partially completed construction.
· Required to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective footwear, and arc-rated clothing and fall protection where site conditions and energized equipment require.
· Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, energized electrical equipment, elevated noise levels, and temperature extremes.
· Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including test equipment.
· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
· Requires extensive travel (75% or more) by air and vehicle to project sites in multiple states, including extended stays at remote jobsites.
