Brief Job Overview
The USP Resiliency Center (RC) Director will support USP’s efforts to advance the resilience of the global pharmaceutical supply of quality medicines. As USP’s external face for resiliency efforts, the Resiliency Center (RC) will build on USP’s network of volunteers and convention members across the supply chain and USP’s scientific expertise, unique insights, intelligence and targeted resiliency programming to mobilize a coalition of relevant stakeholders across government and the private sector to identify and address supply chain vulnerabilities.
The director will oversee and coordinate the Center’s internal operations and delivery against commitments organize and elevate in-house USP expertise to serve as the day-to-day external face of the Resiliency Center.

The Resiliency Center Director Has The Following Responsibilities
- Support development of annual Resiliency Center plan and goals, to include thought leadership, advisory committee and external facing plans/ goals as well as goals around portfolio cross selling and new offering development, working closely with program owners and executive sponsors.
- Track, coordinate and oversee execution of USP Resiliency Center workplan and associated metrics and impact.
- Support management of internal governance, including in convening meetings, setting agendas, tracking outputs and action items for the following:
- Resiliency Center Business Unit Team (“RBUT”): comprised of resiliency solution owners (advanced manufacturing, medicine supply map, pharmaceutical product quality testing, healthcare quality and safety) and cross-functional resiliency center resources, including in government advocacy, business development and external engagement.
- Resiliency Center Steering Committee (RCSC): Comprised of the Chief Executive
Officer and Executive Team members from Documentary Standards and Compendial Policy, Global External Affairs, and Digital and Innovation.
- Drive innovation: Working across internal and external Resiliency Center network, identify gaps
in existing portfolio or opportunities for USP offerings/ capabilities to be presented and leveraged as supply chain solutions. Help explore, conceptualize and shepherd potential new offerings through appropriate USP governance bodies to bring to market.
- Support stakeholder engagement: Working with the Stakeholder Engagement lead, support development and execution of a cohesive stakeholder engagement strategy that not only mobilizes stakeholders to action but also elevates visibility for and uptake of USP resiliency assets and related thought leadership.
- Oversee thought leadership programming: Leveraging input from the RBUT and the RCSC as well as external market trends and developments, develop and execute an annual thought leadership plan for the Resiliency Center, which compliments and reflects external facing activities. Work closely with technical leads/ content owners from within and outside of the organization to develop, vet and deploy content, mobilizing and overseeing external resources as required to achieve plan.
- Administer Resiliency Center Fellowship program, consisting of 1 – 3 fellows allocated from a variety of advanced degree programs in leading universities, to pair fellows with internal technical mentors and ensure productive, high quality experiences.
- Track business development outcomes: Working closely with the RC Business Development lead, support development and implementation of cross-selling approaches and develop an mechanism for tracking and reporting lead generation and cross-selling outcomes to inform the Resiliency Center business case.
- Support external reporting on “state of resiliency,” Working in tandem with D&I data journalist and USP communications teams, support execution of regular “state of resiliency” reports, leveraging the MSM and ad hoc communications related to high visibility world events potentially impacting the biopharmaceutical supply chain (“Resiliency”) alerts.
Who is USP Looking For?
The Successful Candidate Will Have a Demonstrated Understanding Of Our Mission, Commitment To Excellence Through Inclusive And Equitable Behaviors And Practices, Ability To Quickly Build Credibility With Stakeholders, Along With The Following Competencies And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in science, health, business or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years in a strategy or marketing role.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in life sciences or related field.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing strategic initiatives involving substantial cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Additional Desired Preferences
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Pharmaceutical industry, supply chain and government/regulatory experience.
- P&L oversight.
- Project management.
- Marketing or business development experience.

Compensation
Base Salary Range:
USD $165,521.00 – 213,700.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
