What you will be doing:
The Director of Government Affairs will provide expertise to help Premier and our members understand, shape, and operate within rapidly changing policy environments to advance high-quality, highly efficient healthcare. Specifically, the Director of Government Affairs will support the development and execution of Premier’s advocacy strategy for technology and data policy, as well as advocating for policies that incentivize technology adoption and deployment in healthcare. In addition, this position will serve as an advisor and spokesperson to members, lawmakers, the administration, and health policy experts to influence policy in a manner favorable to Premier and our members.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility #1– 35%
Policy/Strategy Development
- Support the development and execution of Premier’s policy positions and recommendations for regulatory and legislative topics including (but not limited to) technology, data, privacy, and insurance industry oversight.
Responsibility #2 – 35%
Regulatory/Legislative Resource
- Serve as a connection point for Premier and its members with lawmakers and the administration, with the goal of supporting legislative and regulatory reforms that will advance Premier’s business strategies and member priorities. This role will engage members and partners in support of these efforts.
Responsibility #3 – 15%
Coalition Participation
- Collaborate with other healthcare organizations in DC to foster coalition efforts on policy and lobbying agenda, negotiating to advance the interests of Premier and our members.
Responsibility #4 – 15%
Thought Leadership
- Coordinate with the Public Relations team to develop and publish content to elevate advocacy priorities and Premier’s visibility
Required Qualifications
Work Experience:
Years of Applicable Experience - 7 or more years
Education:
Bachelors (Required)

Skills:
- Strong quantitative reasoning skills in a healthcare research environment.
- Project Management
- Financial operations
Experience:
- Progressive and relevant experience in policy research, implementation, advocacy, consulting and/or in insurer/health plan or hospital/health systems setting.
- Demonstrated training in public health, health services research, and policy analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare systems including expertise in healthcare reimbursement policies and alternative payment mechanisms.

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US
Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $113,000 - $188,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
