JOB DESCRIPTION
This role is responsible for managing packaging operations within pharmaceutical manufacturing environments at an assistant manager level, ensuring that pharmaceutical products are packaged accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and applicable regulatory requirements. The incumbent oversees packaging operations and manages packaging equipment and machinery, including automated packaging systems, blister packing machines, bottle filling and capping equipment, and cartoning and labeling systems, to ensure finished pharmaceutical products are packaged in accordance with established specifications. This position manages packaging personnel and ensures adequate work coverage, fostering a culture of quality compliance and operational excellence. The role ensures accurate and complete batch documentation and records are maintained throughout the packaging process. It contributes to maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work area in accordance with area cleaning and sanitization protocols. The position leads continuous improvement efforts in packaging operations by identifying and implementing process improvements and contributing to corrective and preventive action processes. It ensures that all packaging activities comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions
- Manage and oversee packaging operations to ensure pharmaceutical products are packaged in accordance with established specifications and quality standards
- Oversee the operation and optimization of packaging equipment including automated packaging systems, blister packing machines, bottle filling and capping equipment, and cartoning and labeling systems
- Manage packaging personnel including scheduling, training, and performance management to ensure adequate work coverage
- Ensure accurate and complete batch documentation and packaging records are maintained as required by regulatory standards
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work area in accordance with area cleaning and sanitization protocols
- Identify, document, and report deviations and non-conformances during packaging activities in accordance with established quality procedures
- Lead continuous improvement efforts in packaging operations by identifying and implementing process improvements
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards across all packaging activities
- Mentor and guide junior packaging staff to develop technical competencies in packaging operations and quality standards
