Human Resources Representative - Medical Waste Services
Reports to: Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)
Classification:Exempt
SUMMARY
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) supports day-to-day HR operations within a regulated medical waste and environmental services environment. This role partners with managers and employees to deliver HR support across talent acquisition, recruitment sourcing, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance.
This is a junior-level HRBP role designed for an HR professional with 3–5 years of experience who is developing skills in employee relations, workforce support, and full-cycle recruiting while ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and federal/state employment regulations.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment Sourcing
•Support full-cycle recruiting for field and corporate roles, including drivers, plant and warehouse associates, sharps technicians, and administrative staff
•Act as a recruitment sourcing specialist, proactively identifying candidates through ADP ATS, LinkedIn and other workforce channels
•Build and maintain candidate pipelines for high-turnover positions
•Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs in operations, sales, and other functional areas
•Coordinate interviews, background checks, drug screenings, and onboarding activities
•Track recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, turnover, and candidate quality
•Ensure a compliant and positive candidate experience
HR Operations & Benefits Administration
•Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, payroll, HR policies, and HRIS (ADP Workforce Now)
•Administer benefits enrollments, life events, and support open enrollment processes
•Maintain and audit employee data monthly for accuracy and compliance
•Support onboarding for new hires, including completion of I-9 documentation
•Assist with leave administration
•Partner with benefits vendors and carriers to resolve employee issues
Employee Relations & Workforce Support
•Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters including attendance issues, workplace concerns, and policy questions
•Assist in conducting basic investigations and documenting employee relations cases
•Support supervisors with progressive discipline, coaching, and performance management documentation
•Assist with employee engagement and retention initiatives, particularly in high-turnover operational roles
•Escalate complex employee relations issues to senior HR leadership as needed
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
•3–5 years of experience in human resources, HR generalist, recruiting, or HR operations
•Experience supporting high-volume recruiting or field-based workforce preferred
•Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
•HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) a plus
•Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS systems preferred
•Knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices
•Experience supporting colleagues in the state of California preferred
•Exposure to OSHA, DOT, or regulated industry environments preferred
•Strong sourcing skills using ATS, job boards, and social recruiting tools
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with frontline employees and leadership
•Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
•High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
•Spanish language skills preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT & REQUIREMENTS
•Office and field-based interaction with operations staff, including plant and transportation employees
•Regular on-site presence required; not a fully remote role
•Ability to sit, stand, and work on a computer for extended periods
•Occasional travel (less than 10%) to operational facilities
•Must possess a valid driver’s license
