Position Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary function of the Engineering Intern in the R&D Innovation organization is to support test method development, characterization of prototypes, and finalization of design elements for various development projects. This includes hands-on test development and validation, statistical analysis of data and communication of results and recommendations in report and/or presentation formats following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with R&D Engineers to support new product innovation activities.
- Support test method development, fixture design, and test method validation
- Perform lab activities, testing and experiments as directed by engineering staff
- Apply analytical and/or statistical methodologies to support design decisions
- Perform investigations and troubleshooting activities as required
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in student-led engineering projects.
- Solid understanding of physics, chemistry, material science, and statistics
- Familiar with data analysis software tools (i.e. Excel, MiniTab)
- Familiar with 3D modeling software
- Accurate recording of test results and observations, good communication and written skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Junior/Senior standing pursuing BS in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
- On-site attendance at our Southington, CT facility
- Some duties are performed in a lab environment with lab equipment
