Summary
The NPD Buyer supports the New Product Development (NPD) and R&D teams by executing procurement activities for active development projects. This role operates with limited direction and is responsible for purchasing raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods in alignment with company procurement policies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and process purchase orders (standard, subcontract, stock transfer, down-payment, and discount orders) in accordance with procurement procedures
- Plan and schedule deliveries to optimize inventory in support of project timelines
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Sourcing, Planning, Category Management, and Shipping/Receiving
- Review quotes, acknowledgements, pricing, availability, and delivery schedules for accuracy
- Support supplier quality improvements in partnership with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE)
- Maintain strong supplier relationships to support long-term partnerships
- Manage orders, RMAs, and invoice resolution through closure
- Maintain material master data in SAP ERP and Excel
- Lead or support special projects, including elements of planning and project management
- Operate within a quality system environment and ensure compliance with company policies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in purchasing or commodity management
- Experience negotiating purchasing agreements and supplier terms
- Working knowledge of procurement processes and business practices
- General knowledge of SAP ERP systems
- Strong communication skills with ability to work across multiple organizational levels
- Experience working in a matrixed and geographically diverse environment
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
