The Role
Moderna is seeking a candidate to define and deliver the AI and data roadmap that enables a resilient, compliant, and digitally connected end-to-end supply chain. This role combines product ownership and hands-on technical delivery: you will translate business needs into data products and AI-enabled capabilities, build prototypes and production solutions, and drive adoption with Supply Chain stakeholders. You will build also a Center of Expertise (CoE) to support data extraction from different sources (SAP systems) and build a data warehouse to support agentic AI. The role requires strong knowledge of supply chain processes and how they are executed in SAP, along with expertise in modern data engineering and applied AI (including GenAI). Experience with SAP Joule, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and decision automation technology such as Aera Technologies would be ideal.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Define and execute multiyear data warehousing strategy, agentic AI & RPA roadmap converging hyper automation, process mining, and LLM driven workflows.
- Prioritize with business leaders, and track value realization (service, cost, working capital, and compliance).
- Operationalize Data / Agentic AI / Automation Center of Excellence (CoE) governing standards, reusable assets, and ROI tracking.
- Technology & Architecture
- Serve as product owner for Supply Chain data products: define product vision, customer personas, user journeys, data contracts, KPIs, and lifecycle management; deliver reliable, reusable datasets, features, and APIs.
- Lead hands-on solution design and delivery: write and review code, build proofs of concept, implement data pipelines and models, and partner with engineering teams to deploy secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Develop AI-enabled capabilities across planning and execution (e.g., demand/supply insights, inventory optimization, exception management, scheduling support, logistics visibility, supplier performance, and quality deviations) using predictive analytics, optimization, and GenAI where appropriate.
- Enable SAP-centric supply chain intelligence: design data and process integrations for SAP supply chain modules and related systems (e.g., IBP/PP-DS, MM, PP, QM, SD, EWM/WM) and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.
- Drive adoption of SAP Joule and relevant SAP BTP services to improve productivity, decision support, and process execution, partnering closely with SAP product teams and solution architects.
- Implement decision automation patterns and platforms (Aera Technologies) to enable closed-loop decisioning, policy-based actions, and robust human-in-the-loop controls for exceptions.
- Establish strong data quality and governance practices for Supply Chain: master data management collaboration, lineage, access controls, monitoring, and remediation processes.
- Ensure GxP compliance and data integrity: support validation, documentation, audit readiness, and change control; embed security-by-design and privacy principles into data and AI solutions.
- Influence and collaborate across Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and Digital; manage vendors/partners as needed and contribute to budget and resource planning.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- Advanced degree (Master’s) in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Deep knowledge of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and compliance (GxP, HIPAA, GDPR).
- 8+ years leading AI/ML or intelligent automation initiatives; 8+ years hands on with Python, SQL, Java; experience building data pipelines, APIs, and production-grade analytics/ML solutions; ability to debug and troubleshoot end-to-end systems.automation initiatives; on with Python, SQL‑automation initiatives; ‑on with Python, SQL
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes (planning, procurement, manufacturing, inventory, warehousing, distribution, and quality) and the data required to run and improve them.
- Experience working with SAP supply chain processes and data, including integration patterns and analytics enablement (e.g., SAP ECC/S4HANA modules such as MM/PP/QM/SD/EWM, SAP IBP, SAP MDG, etc…).
- Experience building reusable data products (semantic layers, feature stores, metric definitions) and establishing data quality SLAs.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a track record of translating business needs into delivered technical outcomes
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master / Ph.D. in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Applied knowledge of forecasting, optimization, and supply chain analytics methods (e.g., safety stock, service level tradeoffs, constraint-based planning, allocation).
- Familiarity with SAP BTP capabilities (integration, data/analytics, and/or AI services) and an ability to partner effectively with SAP platform and integration teams.
- Familiarity with SAP Joule and/or designing GenAI copilots that support SAP-centric workflows.
- Experience with Aera Technology or other decision intelligence / automation platforms (rules + ML, human-in-the-loop execution).
