What Supply Chain Inventory/Purchasing Contributes To Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
The Supply Chain Inventory/Purchasing team is responsible for managing supplier relations at a tactical level by executing and expediting purchase orders. Supply Chain Inventory/Purchasing ensures the right quantity of products arrive in the right place, at the right time and cost. Assists in negotiating product and supply chain costs. Utilize terms and conditions of supplier contracts, work with internal customers to improve processes, and evaluate supplier performance that ultimately improves the supply chain.
Job Summary
The Consultant, Supply Chain Inventory/Purchasing assists on sales operations over the counter products. This job develops a sales forecast by aligning results from sales (past trends) and marketing (future events) and presents findings, trends and reports in the Sales and Operations planning meetings. This job also facilitates Sales and Operations meetings and reaches alignment between demand and sales supply. In addition, this job generates monthly reports to communicate with management regarding supply and demand issues and develops excel files for the sales team tools to gather sales demand data.
Location
This role will be a hybrid position; 1 day in-office per week at the Dublin, OH headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Comprehensive ownership and efficient management of the purchase order life cycle (PO creation to receipt). Resolves failures throughout the lifecycle of the purchase order. Maintain purchasing systems parameters for assigned supplier portfolio such as order minimums, order days, lead time, order cycle, etc.
- Manage supplier portfolio of highly visible and impactful suppliers to key metrics (DIOH, service level, lead time, etc.). Utilize the Integrated Business Planning process to review historical customer demand data and order projections to proactively communicate issues to suppliers and identify alternatives when necessary.
- Take the initiative to find trends and/or issues and use the Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools (A3/DMAIC) to root cause problem solve and implement improvement.
- Full understanding of your supplier portfolio and the ability to speak to key factors impacting supply chain health. Manage actions taken to drive metric improvements and report status to senior leadership.
- Primary person who collaborates effectively with suppliers and stakeholders to manage issues, gather relevant data, review performance and drive improvements (ex. Advance Ship Notice and Purchase Orders via EDI) to meet customer needs.
- Proactively managing the release of backordered products into the supply channel as well as communicate large/impactful releases to our forwarding distribution centers (FDCs) so they can be prepared with labor. Understanding allocations and holding suppliers accountable to their commitments.
- Leads projects that impact our primary metrics and operational efficiencies. Independently manage project milestones to completion, work with cross functional team to accomplish goals.
- Present monthly to the leadership team and stakeholders any project updates and general supply chain health of vendor portfolio.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
- 4+ years of inventory and end to end Supply Chain concepts experience preferred
- Project management and strong organizational skills preferred
- Lean knowledge and Operational Excellence project creation and participation preferred
- Strong analytical skills and proven ability to analyze data trends with the use of reporting tools preferred (ex. Strong Excel function knowledge (Sum, Mode, MID/Filters/Duplicates, Average, IF, Sum ifs, Concatenate, VLookup, Pivot table)
- Business Objects, Looker, Access navigation, and ability to initiate action from findings preferred
- Sense of urgency, attention to detail, and accountability
- Experience with purchasing systems preferred (SCORE, SAP, FDC & NLC scheduling tools, etc.) preferred
- Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities, competing tasks/demands, and delegate effectively preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence internal and external customers to get results preferred

Anticipated salary range: $67,500 - $96,300
