An immediate need exists for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a busy school setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to work directly with elementary students, providing essential communication support to foster their academic success and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver sign language interpretation services for an elementary caseload (1.1 ratio), ensuring clear communication between students, teachers, and staff.
- Arrive each day prior to student arrival, fully prepared to assist throughout the school day.
- Collaborate with educational teams to facilitate inclusion and meet individual student needs.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to all credentialing and school district requirements.
Qualifications And Experience
- Licensed Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) credential required.
- Must hold an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher.
- Alternatively, candidates with Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification are also eligible.
- Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage a consistent schedule and adapt to student needs.
Position Details
- Location: Huntersville, NC (serving Statesville School District)
- Contract Duration: Current School Year through May 27, 2026
- Weekly Hours: 35 hours (7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday to Friday)
- Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
