Providing specialized nursing care in an educational setting, this role involves supporting a first-grade student with complex medical needs. Located in Ithaca, NY, this contract position offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with the opportunity to leave at 2:30 PM once all duties are completed. Compensation includes a full days pay and a duty-free lunch.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Delivering 1:1 nursing care for a non-verbal first-grade student, including monitoring, cleaning, and suctioning of a tracheostomy
- Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as feeding
- Providing academic support and supervising the student during elective classes outside of the special education classroom
- Ensuring a safe and supportive environment, with no aggressive behaviors present
- Collaborating with educators and support staff to promote student well-being
Desired Qualifications And Experience
- Registered Nurse (RN) license with relevant pediatric or school nursing experience
- Skilled in tracheostomy care and suctioning procedures
- Experience providing 1:1 care in an educational or clinical setting
- Ability to manage feeding and ADL support confidently
- Strong observation skills and the ability to supervise during academic activities
- Bilingual abilities are a plus but not required
