We are seeking a
Unit-Based Clinical Pharmacist for a hospital setting in
State College, Pennsylvania. This is a
permanent role offering an excellent opportunity for early-career pharmacists, PGY-1 residents, or experienced clinical pharmacists to grow their skills across multiple acute care areas. Relocation assistance is available on a case-by-case basis, and out-of-state candidates are encouraged to apply.
Position Overview
As a
Unit-Based Clinical Pharmacist, you will provide clinical services across
Emergency Department (ED), Critical Care Unit (CCU/ICU), and antibiotic stewardship teams, giving you a broad clinical experience rather than being limited to a single floor. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support acute patient care, and participate in hospital-wide initiatives.
Schedule
- Day and afternoon shifts (primarily 8-hour shifts)
- MondayFriday with variable scheduling
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness
- Provide clinical services tailored to patient populations in ED, ICU, and other units
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and patient care discussions
- Perform drug therapy monitoring and pharmacist-managed consults per protocol
- Respond to acute patient scenarios, including cardiac arrest, stroke, sepsis, and trauma
- Support antibiotic stewardship programs and other hospital initiatives
- Provide drug information and clinical support to healthcare teams
Required Qualifications
- Active or eligible Pennsylvania Pharmacist License (out-of-state candidates may receive support for licensure)
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
- PGY-1 residency or minimum 3 years of clinical hospital experience
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work across multiple patient care units
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in hospital, ED, or critical care pharmacy
- Excellent interdisciplinary communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable managing diverse patient populations and complex clinical scenarios
Practice Setting
- Hospital-based inpatient units and ED/ICU
- Clinical pharmacy integration with multidisciplinary teams
- IT system: Meditech
