The facility is a community teaching hospital with 174 licensed beds, including an 18-bed LDRP unit, a 5-bed OB triage, and 2 OB operating rooms. It holds The Joint Commission stroke accreditation and is part of a local chest pain network. Staff responsibilities include patient care during vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, tubal ligations, and emergency hysterectomies. The surgical technologist should be comfortable working independently as a solo tech and assisting with instrumentation during deliveries. This night shift also involves stocking operating rooms and patient rooms.
Professional Qualifications Include
- Minimum of 2 years surgical tech experience, with at least one year in obstetrics
- BLS certification (CST not required)
- Proven ability to work with maternity and OB patient populations comfortably
- Competence in solo surgical tech responsibilities in the OR environment
The team structure consists of 4-5 nurses per shift, one CNA, a charge nurse, anesthesia providers, on-site OB doctors for laboring patients, respiratory therapists, pediatric/neonatal providers, and hospitalists available around the clock. Technology use includes Epic EMR and Neptune cauterization equipment.
