A unique opportunity is available for Special Education Teachers to support students in a specialized private school serving Level 3 autism, severe cognitive disabilities, and behavioral needs. This fully onsite, contract position is located in Queensbury, NYapproximately 45 minutes north of Albanyand serves students from middle school through adult age in self-contained classrooms with an 8:1:3 ratio.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality instruction to students with severe disabilities, many of whom are non-verbal and rely on alternative communication methods.
- Develop and modify individualized education programs (IEPs) and curriculums tailored to students academic, behavioral, and pre-vocational needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement behavioral supports and academic interventions.
- Maintain detailed documentation and complete required paperwork to support compliance and student progress.
- Support pre-vocational learning for high school and adult students or focus on academic instruction with middle school students, depending on placement.
Qualifications
- Valid New York State Special Education teaching certification (Students with Disabilities).
- Bachelors degree accepted; masters level preferred.
- Experience working with Level 3 autism, severe behaviors, or medically complex students strongly preferred.
- Skilled in alternative assessments and curriculum modifications.
- Commitment to full onsite work environment with no remote options.
Schedule & Location:
- Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM 3:15 PM.
- Additional time for paperwork, planning, and IEP development may be approved for teachers working early or late, up to 40 hours per week.
- Position available ASAP through the end of the school year (EOSY).
