Position Overview
The National Account Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for our largest and most strategic national accounts—ranging from healthcare systems and pharmaceutical companies to long-term care organizations with multi-state operations. This individual will be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, proactively identifying risk or growth opportunities, and coordinating internal resources to deliver a best-in-class experience. Additionally, the role will include a strong sales component, with responsibility for pursuing new national and regional (“large quantity”) business opportunities—particularly in the Northeast.
This is a hybrid role that blends strategic account management (50%) and new business development (50%).
Key Responsibilities
Account Management (50%)
- Serve as the primary customer-facing liaison for national accounts, managing ~ $10M in annual revenue.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers across healthcare and life sciences organizations.
- Coordinate with internal operations, administrative, and billing teams to ensure timely responses to customer needs (e.g., POs, usage reports, service adjustments).
- Conduct annual and quarterly business reviews with key clients to review performance, compliance, and opportunities for expansion.
- Monitor account health to identify churn risks, pricing opportunities, and customer satisfaction trends.
- Provide customer training and education on regulated and hazardous waste handling requirements.
- Use Excel and internal reporting tools to analyze account data, service metrics, and growth trends.
New Business Development (50%)
- Identify and pursue new national account opportunities across the U.S. and large quantity (LQ) opportunities in New Jersey and the Northeast region.
- Develop tailored proposals and pricing strategies for new prospects.
- Collaborate with leadership to onboard new accounts and ensure a seamless transition to account management.
- Earn variable commission for new business wins and bonuses for revenue growth within the existing base.
- sales quota—performance will be rewarded based on results.
Requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in account management or business development, preferably in healthcare services, environmental services, waste management, or another compliance-heavy industry.
- Proven ability to manage large, multi-location customers and revenue portfolios exceeding $5M+.
- Strong customer relationship and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Excel and comfortable with CRM/reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ability to identify customer risks and proactively develop retention strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
