Your role:
The Supv, Reimbursement Services is responsible for supervising 10+ direct reports in the reimbursement services department whose main functions include eligibility and benefit verification, documentation collection and review, prior authorization and reauthorization submissions, letter or agreement payment negotiations, and processing payer decisions for Baxter’s Respiratory Health home care portfolio.
The Supervisor will also manage workload review and allocation, hiring, performance management, coaching and mentoring, meeting regularly with team to troubleshoot and develop new processes. Must be able to communicate, motivate, and lead change within their team.
What you'll be doing:
- Collaborate with peer reimbursement services department supervisors to foster a unified and consistent approach for the entire team (30-38 team members).
- Supervisory duties to include hiring, onboarding, termination, compensation, disciplinary actions, training, employee development and performance management.
- Monitor and maintain team workflows, adherence to stand of work policies, and ensuring quality objectives, service level agreements, and work deadlines are being met.
- Participate in creating, improving, and maintaining department processes and procedures.
- Set goals for performance in ways that are consistent with the organization’s strategy and vision.
- Motivate, lead, encourage, and inspire team to pivot and adapt to meet organizational monthly/quarterly/yearly revenue goals.
- Evaluate team effectiveness and individual productivity measured against established performance standards.
- Provide training and mentoring, answer questions, and provide support to all team members.
- Assist staff in career development, and drive team to achieve common goals.
- Support and ensure implementation of team decisions.
- Maintain daily, positive communication within the team and across other departments.
- Identify payer trends, establish strategies to overcome reimbursement challenges, and communicate payer updates to leadership team.
- Analyze payment history and trends to provide direction and coaching for team members to effectively negotiate payment rates with payers.
- Provide superior customer experience by leveraging ability to discuss payer policies, coverage criteria, benefit limitation, potential cost, and any pertinent product information with patients and healthcare teams.
- Understand and adhere to all policies for Baxter and 3rd party payers to ensure the highest standard of quality and compliance.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
- 3+ years industry experience, durable medical equipment, medical documentation, prior authorization, third-party reimbursement preferred
- 2+ years supervisory or leadership experience required
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Possess ability to manage time and prioritize critical deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and standards, including a working knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
- Experience with Power BI a benefit

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $64,000 to $88,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
