The Transportation Fleet Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring our transportation network runs safely, smoothly, and efficiently. This position oversees the full lifecycle of our vehicle fleet from acquisition and maintenance to compliance and optimization, while keeping reliability, cost-effectiveness, and safety at the forefront.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate incoming fleet assets to meet MDT specifications and plan modifications as operational needs evolve.
- Schedule and oversee routine maintenance, inspections, and urgent repairs to ensure vehicles remain in peak condition.
- Partner with drivers and maintenance providers to set schedules, allocate resources, and respond quickly needs throughout our operation.
- Manage fleet-related costs, including fuel, maintenance, insurance activity, and repairs, with a focus on cost optimization.
- Ensure all fleet operations comply with local, state, and federal requirements, including vehicle licensing, registration, and safety standards.
- Track fleet performance data and implement improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors, suppliers, and service providers to secure reliable support for fleet operations.
- Installation of necessary vehicle monitoring equipment.
- Assist in planning and coordinating logistics of border transportation operations for personnel and resource allocation as needed
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in fleet management systems and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of vehicle operations, maintenance, and safety best practices.
- Effective communication, leadership, and negotiation skills
Work Environment
- Hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm. Schedule: Monday through Friday.
- Primarily office-based with regular time spent on-site at distribution hubs, in the yard, and alongside drivers.
- 10–15% overnight travel to support fleet logistic needs.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment while maintaining attention to detail.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Prior experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation strongly valued.
- 3–5 years of experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation strongly valued.
- Operate Safely & Reliably: Ensure vehicles are always road-ready, drivers are supported, and safety standards are met without compromise.
- Maximize Efficiency: Reduce downtime, control costs, and use data-driven insights to make smart decisions that strengthen fleet performance.
- Lead with Purpose: Build trust with drivers, maintenance staff, and partners by setting clear expectations, fostering accountability, and celebrating wins.
- Stay Ahead of Challenges: Anticipate issues before they arise and respond quickly and effectively when they do.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance service, and adapt to the evolving needs of customers.

Pay Range
The pay rate for this position is begins at $21.00 and could increase up to $26.00 based on experience.
