Manufacturing Engineer I
The job function of a Manufacturing Engineer I is to provide technical contributions for both commercialized and new products. This position is responsible for the processes, equipment, documentation, and related supplier capability required to manufacture assigned products. The scope of the position includes routine production line support, product improvement projects, and new product introduction activities. The focus of the position is to continually improve product quality, delivery, and cost, both on the factory floor and from the related suppliers. Although the technology will be specific to the product family, process, and equipment, general manufacturing engineering tools will be applied across all product lines.
Responsibilities
- Assist with analysis and problem solving for manufacturing non-conformances.
- Identify opportunities for quality defects to occur in manufacturing processes and suggest mitigations.
- Assist with Design of Experiments to develop new processes or solve material and equipment problems.
- Learn and implement the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of 5S, Lean, and Six-Sigma.
- Recommend product cost improvement projects, to improve product margins in support of company CI initiatives.
- Perform time and motion studies, quantify the work content of a manufacturing process.
- Assist in designing the workflow of manufacturing processes.
- Assist with packaging development processes, including the creation of packaging standards, designs, prototype development, and performance testing.
- Evaluate equipment and process constraints to justify capital expenditures including ROIs.
- Learn and use tools to facilitate ergonomic changes.
- Apply knowledge of Equipment or Controls Engineering to develop solutions to improve manufacturing process performance and efficiencies.
- Keep current on new and improving technologies and lead projects.
- Participate on cross-functional teams to design and validate new products, improve processes, identify, and implement continuous improvement concepts, assess suppliers, perform root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Understand and apply analytics to troubleshoot systems and machines.
- Write simple procedures, work instructions and test documentation.
- Assist in the creation of product documentation including BOM's, assembly drawings, work instructions and ECO's in a highly efficient manner.
- Create documentation required for product design changes. Assist in activities required to gain cross-functional approval and implement changes.
- Participate on initiatives and cross-functional teams to assess supplier capabilities, develop packaging solutions for components and systems, create operational and process qualification protocols for new products and processes.
- Assist with new equipment commissioning, installation, and qualification.
- Assist with process validations and post-NPI launch issue resolution teams.
- Support Engineering to evaluate alternate materials.

Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in Engineering or a hard science field of study

- CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP
- PLM knowledge, preferably Agile
