Summary
The IQA Technician II performs Tier 1 and Tier 2 inspections on inbound materials used to assemble complex medical devices. This role requires strong attention to detail, experience with precision measurement tools, and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings. The technician ensures all materials meet FDA, GMP, and ISO 13485 standards and supports continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform Tier 1 manual inspections using calipers, gauges, rulers, and visual methods.
- Conduct Tier 2 inspections using advanced instruments such as 3D/2D Digital Measuring Projectors, Optical Gaging Products (OGP), and Keyence IM systems.
- Inspect printed materials (labels, manuals, inserts, CDs, etc.).
- Interpret and compare engineering drawings and GD&T features.
- Document inspection results, non-conformances, and perform ERP data entry.
- Review sampling and control plans to verify product conformance.
- Support compliance with FDA, GMP, ISO 13485, and company Quality System standards.
- Assist with troubleshooting and provide suggestions for continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 2–5 years of quality inspection experience (medical device preferred).
- Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and blueprint reading.
- Proficient with measurement tools and gauges (calipers, pressure/force gauges, etc.).
- Experience with inspection sampling techniques.
- Familiarity with FDA, GMP, and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Strong communication and computer skills (Microsoft Word & Excel).
- Experience with ERP systems and/or CMM operation a plus.
