Title: Buyer II
Location: Irving, TX
Duration: 12 Month Assignment
The Buyer II is responsible for performing more advanced purchasing activities, including sourcing, negotiating, and managing materials, equipment, and supplies from approved vendors. This role requires evaluating supplier performance, optimizing cost, and ensuring materials availability to support operational needs. The Buyer II operates with moderate independence, exercising judgment within established policies and contributing to process improvements, supplier relationships, and cost-saving initiatives.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Purchase materials, supplies, and equipment in alignment with company purchasing policies, quality standards, and operational requirements.
- Evaluate, analyze, and compare vendor quotations to identify cost-effective, reliable, and quality-focused suppliers.
- Prepare, issue, and monitor purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Maintain and update purchasing records, reports, pricing lists, supplier data, and audit documentation.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with planning teams to avoid shortages, delays, or over-stock situations.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, discrepancies, delivery schedules, and escalation needs; independently expedite orders when required.
- Work closely with internal departments—including production, quality, engineering, and finance—to clarify specifications, resolve issues, and support material planning.
- Participate actively in cost-reduction initiatives, supplier performance evaluations, and continuous improvement projects.
- Support onboarding and qualification of new suppliers in coordination with the supply chain and quality teams.
- Ensure adherence to purchasing procedures, company guidelines, and compliance requirements.
- Perform additional duties related to purchasing and sourcing as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field preferred.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of purchasing concepts, sourcing practices, vendor negotiations, and supply chain workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong vendor-facing professionalism.
- Intermediate negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate supplier proposals and cost structures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience working with ERP or purchasing software (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to process improvement.
