Description:
The Associate Manager, Lab IT Systems, will oversee the implementation, management, and support of IT systems within the laboratory environment of our pharmaceutical company. This role requires a deep understanding of laboratory operations, informatics, and compliance requirements. The Associate Manager will collaborate closely with laboratory staff, IT teams, and cross-functional departments to ensure the seamless integration and functionality of laboratory information systems (LIMS), data management tools, and analytical software, while supporting regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Management:
Manage and support laboratory IT systems, including LIMS, electronic lab notebooks (ELN), and data analysis tools, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. - Project Leadership:
Lead IT projects within the laboratory, from requirements gathering through implementation, including system upgrades and integrations with other enterprise systems. - User Support & Training:
Provide technical support to laboratory personnel, including troubleshooting system issues and delivering training on best practices and system functionalities. - Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure laboratory IT systems comply with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, GxP, GLP) and maintain accurate documentation related to system configurations, changes, and validations. - Collaboration:
Work closely with laboratory managers, quality assurance, and IT teams to identify needs, implement solutions, and enhance laboratory workflows. - Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within laboratory IT systems, recommending enhancements and innovations to support laboratory objectives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in IT systems management within a laboratory or pharmaceutical setting.
- Proven experience with LIMS, ELN, or other laboratory software systems.
- Familiarity with laboratory operations and regulatory requirements (GxP, FDA, GLP).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in data management, system integration, and laboratory informatics.
- Experience with database management (e.g., SQL) and analytical software.
- Understanding of IT security protocols and best practices within a laboratory environment.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud-based laboratory IT solutions.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or relevant IT certifications.
