The Vice President, Human Resources (VP, HR) is a uniquely interesting and challenging position, responsible for multiple pharmaceutical plant locations in central NJ, Long Island, NY and Glasgow, KY. Specific covered functions include Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, R&D, Warehouse Logistics, and Strategic Sourcing.
The VP is part of the HR executive team shaping company-wide strategy, policies, and processes. Leading a team of 13, plus indirect support for the Ireland operation, the role oversees HR business partnering for manufacturing and R&D, collaborating closely with talent acquisition, development, total rewards, communications, and HR operations to achieve growth objectives.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer, the Vice President of Human Resources has responsibility for the development and delivery of programs to support our Integrated Talent Management strategy including strategic workforce planning, organizational design, development/effectiveness, talent development and performance management in a complex and dynamic organizational structure. This key leadership role leads a team of strategic human resources business partners who are embedded within the operations, manufacturing, quality, and R&D functions and provide strategic and tactical HR leadership across their assigned client groups.
Essential Functions:
- Partners with executive leaders to provide integrated talent management solutions and strategic guidance in organizational design, development and effectiveness, employee engagement, employee relations, performance management and other key people functions.
- Plans, develops, and leads a team of Human Resource Business Partners to ensure implementation of HR policies & practices across the organization.
- Partner with other HR functions, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Internal Communications, HR Operations and Total Rewards to develop and implement HR programs aligned to HR and organizational strategy and to attract, retain and promote an inclusive workforce.
- Manages complex employee relations issues by establishing solid investigation practices according to established guidelines and sound administrative practices. Work closely with internal legal department, compliance and outside counsel, as needed.
- Responsible for the development of the organization's workforce plan, aligned with the organization’s short- and long-term objectives. Collaborates closely with business unit leaders to understand business priorities and challenges, ensuring appropriate staffing and employee resources are available to achieve business objectives.
Education:
- Master Degree (MS/MA) Human Resources or related discipline - Preferred
- Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) Human Resources or related discipline - Required
Experience:
- 15 years or more in HR Generalist experience supporting large, complex, high-growth organizations required
- 5 years or more in Pharmaceutical industry experience required, preferably with direct responsibility for Plant Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D.
Skills:
- Proven experience as VP of HR or other senior HR role - experience in strategic workforce planning, organizational design, change management and implementation - Advanced
- Deep knowledge of HR functions (talent management, recruitment, training, etc.) - Advanced
- Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments - Advanced
- Ability to apply and adapt practices and techniques to the special requirements of senior management - Advanced
- Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form - Advanced
- Experience coaching and influencing senior leadership, communicating effectively and helping lead organizational change - Advanced
Specialized Knowledge:
- Experience supporting commercial sales & marketing functions within pharmaceutical industry.
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and best practices.
- Experience in the administration of Human Resources programs.
- Must be proficient in MS Office particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
Licenses:
- PHR or SPHR--Preferred
- SHRM CP or SHRM SCP--Preferred
