Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a proactive and ambitious Scientist I, Formulation to join our Quality Control team in Carlsbad, CA. - Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Qualify product(s) in a lab setting following standard operating procedures
- Perform various assays including PCR, qPCR, Bioanalyzer, HPLC, HPIC, and nucleic acid purification
- Analyze data and actively participate in troubleshooting
- Follow controlled protocols and maintain equipment and product inventories
- Identify and implement manufacturing procedures to optimize existing processes
- Initiate and bring up problem reports related to production issues or deviations when they occur
- May perform radioactive assays and analysis, TR-FRET assays, fluorescence based assays, and protein concentration assays
- Other duties as assigned
Keys to Success:
Education And Experience
- High School diploma and 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or research laboratory; or Associates Degree in a scientific field and at least 2 years of experience; or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field and 0-2+ years of demonstrated experience
- Introductory experience in scientific laboratory techniques and equipment
- Excellent documentation and communication techniques
Work Environment:
- Works in a clean, controlled, manufacturing lab environment with specialized equipment
- Regularly required to lift up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 45 pounds with assistance and/or equipment
- May be required to stand for long periods of time
- Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed
- Must work with chemicals and hazardous materials safely
- Occasional use of a step-stool is required to reach for objects
- While performing duties of this position, employee will occasionally work with fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals
