We are looking for a summer Textile Engineer Intern to form part of our Texwipe business unit team. Texwipe is a market leader in contamination control. In this internship you will gain valuable experience and exposure to a wide range of operational areas and topics. You will be expected to present your projects to the team at the end of the summer.
This internship is a part of the division’s succession planning and applicants should have a strong desire to work for ITW and Texwipe post-graduation. This position is in our Kernersville Plant, NC and will last approximately 12 weeks.
Essential Job Responsibilities
The summer Textile Engineer internship is designed to give a student hands-on exposure to day-to-day operations and assist with projects and research that provide opportunity to support the growth of the organization and add positive impact. The Textile Engineer Intern duties may include:
- Analyze and improve textile manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical problems in textile machinery and production processes. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor production quality and ensure compliance with industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high-quality output.
- Maintain detailed records of process improvements, troubleshooting activities, and quality control measures. Prepare reports and presentations for management review.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to develop new textile products and innovative manufacturing techniques. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications
- Must be in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in textile engineering or another related field. Ideally targeting graduation 2026.
- GPA of 3.5 or above
- Possess strong leadership, data analytics, organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills.
- Self-directed, results-oriented and customer focused.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel etc.).
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
