Position Summary:
The Azenta Automation Engineering team is responsible for developing automated hardware and software to transform our sample repository (SRS) and multiomics (Genewiz) businesses. We work with the latest technologies to push the boundaries of what is possible within these spaces to ensure Azenta’s industry leading position.
We are looking for a HW Engineering Co-Op Student to help in the development of industry-leading robotic solutions for sample management. This position is onsite at our innovation focused facility. You will be surrounded by exceptional engineering talent and opportunities as well as a fast-paced, engaging culture.
Responsibilities:
- Assist team with various aspects of product development including:
- Design of automated hardware systems, with a focus on electro- mechanical mechanism design
- Test protocol creation
- Hands-on testing
- Prototype build
- Documentation creation
- Design reviews
Requirements:
- Pursuing degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related discipline
- Familiar with 3D CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
- Basic understanding of low-voltage AC/DC circuits, component selection (e.g. sensors, actuators, data acquisition), and circuit diagrams
- Practical understanding of fluid flow, thermal, and structural design considerations
- Demonstrated capability to perform engineering analysis and familiarity with commonly used analysis tools (e.g., mechanical and thermal FEA & CFD)
- Collaborative team player; able to give and receive feedback
