Pharmacists Mutual Insurance has an opening for an Accounting Associate. This role will perform routine accounting functions in the areas of deposits, invoicing and accounts payable processing. Provides customer service in areas of account billing and payment.
Accounting Associate I
- Responsible for basic/routine level accounting and customer service tasks such as data entry.
- Has a broad understanding of various finance workflows.
Accounting Associate II
- Responsible for the more complex accounting and customer service tasks in the areas listed in the essential functions.
- Performs limited general ledger entry and account balancing, management and regulatory reporting, municipal premium tax return preparation and provides requested documentation to actuaries and auditors.
Essential Functions
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Processes policyholder payments and other cash receipts including checks, EFT payments and credit card payments.
- Processes and prints Company checks for claims, receivables and general accounts payable.
- Balances daily deposits and records general ledger entries as required.
- Processes agency/direct bill statements in agency software.
- Processes invoices and payments through the accounts payable system.
- Oversees the expense reporting system, reconciles and prepares general ledger entries for expenses and prepares management reports on expense data.

- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including processes related to accounts receivable and accounts payable and understands basic accounting rules and regulations and the policies and procedures of the finance department.

Experience And Education Qualifications
Accounting Associate
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of related experience; or
- Associate’s Degree
Accounting Associate II
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience; or
- Associate’s Degree and 1 year of related experience
