Job Description Summary
The Content Manager is responsible for the creation and production of omni-channel marketing content to achieve business goals and to ensure a consistent, integrated customer experience that guides prospects along their conversion journey. This position will support BD’s Surgery Business Unit (BU) and report directly to the Associate Director, Marketing Communications and Digital Marketing.
This role is responsible for driving the execution of successful short-term and long-term campaign efforts to achieve business objectives with a focus on direct-to-healthcare professionals (DTHCP) market activation and lead generation.
The position will work collaboratively and cross functionally within the Surgery business unit and BDX teams as needed. The Content Manager is a professional with solid business judgement, strategic thinking, strong creative writing skills, and experience and ability to partner with external vendors, providing direction and feedback on creative.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Partner with marketing to develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with Surgery BU goals, target audience and BD brand identity to support marketing initiatives, product launches and thought leadership.
- Partners with marketing, outside creative agencies and/or creates high quality, compelling content that aligns with omni-channel campaign goals and drives brand awareness, engagement and lead generation across multiple platforms, including but not limited to websites and landing pages, organic social media, paid media assets including SEM, LinkedIn and 3rd party digital ads, and emails
- Manages website content optimization (SEO) vendor, ensuring delivery of optimized content for SEO that is consistent with BD brand messaging and tone of voice.
- Acts as primary liaison with corporate social media team on organic social content proliferation
- Working knowledge of SFDC and AEM to help inform content strategies
- Collaborates with marketing and US region to maintain content calendar
- Work closely with Digital Marketing Manager, marketing partners and analyst to optimize content on all platforms for maximum effectiveness
- Monitors lead management process and online activity including customer reactions to inform optimizations and future content development
- Manages content through full approval routing process and ensures only approved content is released to market through various channels.
- Work in strong collaboration with the US Region Marketing teams, BU Marketing/ Communications team and across BDX matrixed organization and marketing community

Content Manager Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or similar.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in content management and tactics including content creation, editing, analytics, social media marketing and search engine optimization.
- Marketo Expert certification required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An appreciation for quality content and the ability to create it
- Ability to multitask and take on multiple assignments
- Industry experience in biotech, pharma, med tech or health tech/digital health is preferred.
- Agency background is desirable.
- Experience writing and editing for Search Engine Marketing (SEM), ability to follow a style guide, and ensure content accessibility and end-user readability.
- Experience effectively and efficiently managing copy approval (MLR) processes is helpful
- A great team player - collaborative, detail-oriented and organized, comfortable working in a cross-functional and highly matrixed environment with limited resources.
- Ability to travel 10-15%
