How This Role Impacts Live Oak And Its People
At the FitPark, our
Exercise Science Interns gain invaluable hands-on experience in a dynamic fitness and wellness environment. Interns will be immersed in all aspects of our operations, working closely with the Director of Corporate Health and FitPark team to provide exceptional service to facility users, implement innovative wellness programs, and contribute to promoting a culture of health and well-being across the Tiburon Park campus.
Interns will develop skills in fitness programming, facility operations, member engagement, and health education, preparing them for future careers in the exercise science field.
What You’ll Do At Live Oak
- Personal Training and Fitness Coaching:
- Assist certified trainers during one-on-one personal training sessions, learning how to develop and implement personalized workout plans.
- Conduct fitness orientations for new members, including equipment demonstrations and basic fitness assessments.
- Provide guidance on proper exercise technique, equipment use, and workout safety.
- Group Fitness and Wellness Programming:
- Help lead or co-teach group fitness classes, such as circuit training, stretching, or functional movement.
- Assist in designing engaging and innovative group workouts tailored to various fitness levels.
- Support the implementation of fitness challenges and wellness programs to boost participation and motivation.
- Client Engagement and Member Support:
- Build strong relationships with members by providing encouragement and tailored fitness advice.
- Answer member questions about fitness programs, wellness resources, and FitPark services.
- Monitor the gym floor to ensure a safe and welcoming environment, addressing member concerns proactively.
- Facility Operations and Maintenance:
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to keep the facility clean, organized, and functional.
- Inspect equipment for safety, reporting issues or concerns promptly to management.
- Ensure compliance with FitPark policies, including proper gym etiquette and use of equipment.
- Administrative Support:
- Track member attendance and engagement in programs and events.
- Assist in promoting FitPark offerings through email, social media, and on-site communications.
- Support the planning and execution of large-scale fitness events and initiatives.
How You’ll Do It
- Approach all tasks with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help others succeed in their fitness goals.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of exercise science principles, fitness programming, and member safety.
- Communicate effectively with members and team members, maintaining a positive and supportive demeanor.
- Take initiative to improve member experience and suggest innovative ideas for fitness programs.
- Uphold FitPark’s commitment to providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all users.
Required And Preferred Experience
- Required:
- Current enrollment in an Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field of study.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (current or able to obtain).
- Strong interest in personal training, group fitness, or wellness coaching.
- Preferred:
- Experience working in a fitness or wellness facility.
- Knowledge of strength training, cardiovascular programming, and functional movement.
- Familiarity with fitness tracking tools and wellness apps.

The base pay range for this position is $19.23 - $31.25 per hour. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
