Summary of Position: BD is seeking a motivated Threat Intelligence/Security Research Intern to join our Cyber & Digital Risk team. The intern will assist in identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the monitoring of and researching real-world vulnerabilities for critical business infrastructure, key resources, and product space. The intern will work on various projects related to threat detection, incident response, and cybersecurity intelligence. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Take a proactive role by contributing thoughtful and valuable work, taking ownership of assigned tasks, and collaborating with your peers
- Find innovative solutions to unique business challenges and continuously evolving needs, constantly iterating and learning as you go
- Partner with mentors to review work, discuss goals and experience while ensuring defined projects are on target for completion
- Monitor cyber event feeds, analyzing threats and prioritizing risk
- Participate in incident handling, triage, and remediation
- Design and build automation for cyber event workflows
- Participate in the vulnerability management lifecycle
- Assist in the development and maintenance of documentation (Playbooks, SOPs, Work Instructions) required to effectively maintain controls effectiveness.
- Coordinate with Incident Response (IR), Threat Detection & Response (TDR), and Threat Intelligence (TI) analysts to manage and administer the updating of rules and signatures for monitoring business-critical systems and applications.
- Develop, maintain, and disseminate dashboards, reports, rules, filters, and trends.
- Communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and advise staff on cybersecurity issues and approaches.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of security concepts such as cyber-attacks and techniques, threat vectors, risk management, and incident management.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and practices.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
