Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Sr. IT Systems Engineer with a strong background in Azure technologies and systems administration. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient, high-performance infrastructure, particularly using tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the availability, security, and scalability of systems while standardizing operational practices and automating infrastructure management. The role involves close collaboration with development, IT, and DevOps teams, as well as providing expert troubleshooting and incident response support. We seek someone with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset, capable of driving continuous improvement in system reliability and performance.
What will you do?
- System Design & Implementation: Work with development, IT, and DevOps teams to design and implement resilient, high-performance solutions for enterprise clients using Azure services and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes).
- Operational Excellence: Develop and document standard operating procedures and best practices to ensure a consistent and secure infrastructure environment. Focus on creating repeatable, automated processes for managing infrastructure.
- Infrastructure Maintenance & Support: Administer and support critical systems, including Windows and Linux servers, Docker containers, AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), and other infrastructure components. Ensure that environments remain highly available and secure.
- Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Provide advanced troubleshooting and incident response support. Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, working closely with internal teams and external customers to mitigate impact.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, provide technical expertise, and ensure alignment between development and operations. Create and maintain technical diagrams, documentation, and knowledge bases.
- Automation & IaC (Infrastructure as Code): Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of infrastructure.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in system reliability, scalability, and performance. Monitor system health and proactively implement changes to prevent failures and reduce downtime.
This is an onsite position at our offices in either San Diego, CA or Dallas, TX.
What education and experience do you need?
A combination of the following education and experience factors will be considered:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in an IT Systems Engineering role, with 2+ years of specialized experience working with Azure technologies and managing large-scale, distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes clusters, Docker containers, and infrastructure management tools like Terraform.
- Strong background in networking and system security, with the ability to implement and enforce best practices in these areas.
Technical Skills:
- Azure Services: Deep knowledge of Azure infrastructure, including AKS, Virtual Machines, Networking, and Storage.
- IaC: Proficiency in writing and deploying Terraform modules for infrastructure automation.
- Linux & Windows Administration: Experience in administering both Linux and Windows servers.
- Containers & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized applications and services.
Certifications (preferred):
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert)
- CSSP (Certified Secure Software Practitioner)

What does the position pay:
Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location.
The expected range for this role is $120,000.00-140,000.00 annual compensation. Please note this range is an estimate and actual may vary based on qualifications and experience.
