Pharmacists Mutual Insurance has an opening for a Businsess Development Executive in Algona, IA. This role will be responsible for sales, member retention and helping grow the organization through various marketing techniques. Business Development Executives are responsible for representing the Company in a professional manner that reflects positively on the Company's corporate values.
Business Development Executive
- Pursues expert knowledge of Pharmacists Mutual's insurance principles, practices, and products.
- Designs and executes effective strategies to identify members with incomplete packages of insurance solutions.
- Designs and executes effective strategies to identify prospective members.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
- Educate clients on insurance products.
- Work independently while receiving on-going support.
Essential Functions
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Direct multi-line insurance sales /service to Pharmacists and other targeted markets in assigned territory.
- Prospect and generate new business through leads and referrals.
- Conduct policy reviews and update policies.
- Provide quality member service that ensures file quality, timely coverage and needs analysis with detailed documentation supporting conversations and decisions.
- Prequalify new business risks for adherence to Company underwriting guidelines.
- Attend meetings and conventions as determined by sales team leader.
- Communicate with and provide information to company personnel for proper risk assessment and placement.
- Achieve set production goals.
- Portray a professional image through proper appearance and actions.
- Drive a vehicle for extended periods as the main method of transportation in the assigned territory.

Experience And Education Qualifications
Business Development Executive
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience; or
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent and 1 year of related experience; or
- Bachelor’s Degree
Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certificates
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Must possess Property & Casualty insurance licenses prior to the start of employment
- Must possess Life & Health licenses or obtain within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
All levels
One of the following insurance related certifications or similar: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC)

- Vision sufficient with correction to read small print in communications, policies and on the computer screen
- Hearing or other means sufficient to understand conversations in person and over the telephone
- Speech sufficient to make oneself heard in person and over the telephone
- Mobility sufficient to move around in an office setting
- Dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment
- Strength sufficient to lift and carry routine office equipment weighing up to 30lbs.
- Endurance sufficient to maintain productivity throughout entire shift
- Physical ability to drive a car for extended periods as the main method of transportation to execute the job as needed
Work Environment
- Primary work environment will involve meeting members and prospects in their place of business/practice or their homes
- Some work will be performed in hotel rooms and your own home
- Significant travel, often overnight will be required
